We are in the process of selling our home and are looking for new place at the same time. On a regular basis we scan the web sites of some big Real Estate companies here in Santa Fe and look for new listings.
This has become too much of a pain: go to web-site, set search criteria, look through hundreds of listings and find the ones you haven’t seen yet. Repeat this process for each Real Estate Web Site.

RSS to the rescue!

I wrote parsers for Sotheby’s Real Estate, French & French Properties and Santa Fe Properties and syndicate the latest (new) listings into RSS files for each Real Estate company. All I have to do now is to open the feeds in my RSS Reader and - voila - I have all the latest listings
If you’re interested here are the individual RSS feeds and an OPML file that combines all of the feeds for easy import into your RSS Reader:

• French & French
• Santa Fe Properties
• Sothebys for Santa Fe
• Barker Realty
• All of the above in one OPML file

Once a day those listings get updated automatically.

U.S. Army Offers Breast Implants as Incentive
The U.S. Army is known for its recruiting slogan “Be All You Can Be,” But now, according to The New Yorker magazine, the military is offering a new incentive. Soldiers and their families can receive plastic surgery, including breast enlargements, funded by US taxpayers.

In its July 26th edition, the New Yorker reports that members of all four branches of the U.S. military can get face-lifts, breast enlargements, liposuction and nose jobs for free — something the military says helps surgeons practice their skills. Dr. Bob Lyons, chief of plastic surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio told the magazine “Anyone wearing a uniform is eligible.” Between 2000 and 2003, military doctors performed 496 breast enlargements and more than 1,300 liposuction surgeries on soldiers and their dependents, the magazine said. The magazine quoted an Army spokeswoman as saying, “the surgeons have to have someone to practice on.”

That’s right, ladies - join the Army, get a boob job and have them blown off on duty.

Every morning we wake up to a cloudy sky. The sun burns all of them away by mid-morning. Just before lunch-time the clouds begin to fight back and there are huge buildups over the mountains behind our house. In the afternoon things get a bit tighter and then we can see the rain coming in from the distance. Gorgeous!

Last night we had a bit of comment attack on kahunaburger.com. Some idiota submitted over 400 comments to entries all over the site. They all pointed to an x-rated place out there. Should feel flattered that kahunaburger.com is considered a valuable target.
After adding the external site to the blog-spam catcher, deleting offending comments and rebuilding affected entries, everything is fine again.
In the process I also added the anonymous proxies (which were used to post the comments) to my sh*tlist. Here they are:

This is making me sick!!!

In hope that the more people who hear about this, the more people will know how to vote in November: Hersh: children raped at Abu Ghraib, Pentagon has videos. If you listen to Hersh’s speech in Real Player, fast forward to 1:30:50 to hear the part I’m referring to.

When I first heard about the incidents at Abu Ghraib and saw how the government was trying to “shield” the public from the full truth (because “we” can’t handle it), I knew that this was the wrong strategy. Instead of coming out with all the information and make it quick and painful, things will trickle out over time and will haunt people for years to come.

Teeth coming

The two little white ‘things’ on the lower gums are the source for some extra fuzziness with the little Pia: teeth are coming in and it must hurt when they try to break through the skin. Ice-cubes seem to help and in general chewing on things (cables, dog tails, etc.) seems to soothe the pain.

Candice and Pia returned from the Park the other day. They had met a friend and her baby and hung out for a little while. They also had some sort of a picnic which involved “strawberries”. Pia likes strawberries as you can obviously see from the following pictures (take a closer look at the pants in the second photo - those pants are pink normally):
