Bill and Cody again

Bill is making me jealous - almost on a weekly basis. He sends photographs from his rides to the back country and every time I wish I had the opportunity to see the same gorgeous landscapes he sees on his rides out.
We are talking about places where no motorized vehicle has gone before: you either get there on your feet or on a horse’ back. I am the lazy kind of guy, which means that I would pick horse over feet. However the problem is that I don’t know how to ride a horse.

Bill is nice enough to help me change that situation. Last Saturday we met at a stable near Eldorado in the morning and I was allowed to borrow Cody and Bill’s knowledge about horse-back riding for a while.
It was a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to a few more training sessions and perhaps a chance to accompany Bill next year.

As it was also the day where Bill wanted to take shots for a Christmas card (featuring Judy, Bill, Cody and Bear) he happened to snap a picture of myself on Cody’s back:

Too many baby pictures …

snow = wood

After it started snowing on Friday and we were dangerously low on wood, we decided to get a years worth of firewood yesterday. Luckily there are guys just next to the road with truck loads of wood, who are more than happy to sell it to you. We (the two guys selling the wood and I) stacked it for about an hour yesterday afternoon.
Now all we need is more snow …

If only a fraction of this is true …

If only a fraction of this “RavenWoods: Widespread Reports of Vote Fraud” is true, then I think we are going to have some fun weeks ahead of us …

Pretty for Windows

I’m not entirely sure when Konfabulator for Windows was released, but it must have been not too long ago.
Konfabulator allows you to place widgets with different functionality on your desktop. Some widgets just display information while others can be interacted with (you can see a small portion of my desktop in the screenshot). Most importantly: those widgets look pretty!

OSCE observers ‘barred’ from US polls

According to this AFP story: IOL: North America (and here at Sierra Times) the foreign election observers sent by the OSCE were not welcome at some polling places. This puts the US actually behing the countries mentioned in this post. What a shame!

This little piggie had a birthday party …

It’s Sunday afternoon and we invited some of Pia’s friends for a combined Birthday-/Halloween-Party to our house. Pia got tons of presents and was wired the whole afternoon (she doesn’t go to bed until almost 8pm, which is really late for her).
Thanks everybody for coming over and making this a success!
