Santa Train Ride

On Sunday we did something that usually only tourists do in this town: the three of us went for a train ride.

Santa Fe Southern Railway offers train rides from Santa Fe towards Lamy almost every day. Throughout the year they also have some “themed” rides. We took the one on Sunday just after lunch which was labelled “Caroling and Santa Train”. Some of our baby-friends went along for the ride and it was really a lot of fun.

We had Santa running around on the train, taking pictures and giving presents to the kids. A guy with his guitar was playing christmas songs and encouraging people to join in.

All the babies liked the action and the special attention they got. It was also nice enough to stand on the open car of the train which allowed us to get some fresh air.

It was sunny, warm and snowy, cold at the same time. The weather here seems to change more often than my underwear. Good they serve hot chocolate on the train and if you ask nice they may even add a shot of something to give it a kick (just make sure you remember which one of the two hot chocolates has the “kick”; otherwise you’ll see a three-year old looking rather funny when she tastes the wrong hot chocolate …).
