55mb for a printer driver?

Yes, that’s right. I just hooked up my wife’s HP Officejet V40xi to my laptop, because I had to print some stuff and did not want to start her laptop (which shares the printer). So I need to install the driver for this thing.
* go to www.hp.com
* click on driver downloads
* enter model
* pick OS

55mb printer driver

55mb for a printer driver? Yes, it can scan as well, but does it really have to be 55MB? I don’t want to download a whole operating system, I just want to print something. This is close to being the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen in a long time … sigh.

And to make matters worse: Now I’m at a point where it keeps on asking me to supply dot4prt.sys and there’s no freaking place where I have that file. Guess that rules out another HP printer in my lifetime.
