A little “I love you”

I just put Pia to bed. It’s unusual that she goes to sleep before 8pm, but I guess the fact that she’s allowed to sleep in daddy’s bed made it easier. Just before I left her she turns to me and whispers a little “I love you!”. It sounded very sincere, from the heart, not like something that husbands and wives add to the end of a phone conversation. Sigh. Tears in my eyes. Now I know again why people refer to their kids as their most precious possessions …
