More from the Tesuque zoo

For months we saw bat droppings on the terrace close to the kitchen. Once it gets dark outside you can hear them flapping overhead, but rarely do you see one of them at night. They seem to like to hang on the wall in a dark corner. Why they pick exactly that corner is beyond me.
Anyway, this morning I was outside with the dogs and checked the results of last nights bat-pooping-session. To my surprise one of them decided not to go to a darker place but is still hanging out on the terrace. ISO 800 makes that photo a bit grainy.

    Nice!
How big was this bat, looks like it might be tiny… 6″ or so?

Yeah, Daniel, he was about 6-7″. I took the big honking 100-400mm and tried to get a better shot, but there’s not enough light in the area and it’s hard to hold the camera steady for 1/30s - even with the IS.

Save the droppings for your garden. Good fertilizer.
