ABQ Zoo! (actually, just the fountain)
Last week Pia’s school was closed and we needed to find things to do. Lots of things. Having her for a week is not too bad when she goes to school, but if she’s with you 24 hrs a day, you better find some distractions, otherwise you are going to go bonkers by the end of the week.
One day it was Albuquerque Zoo Day. It was a hot day and most of the animals were as lethargic as the polar bears:
We arrived around 11am and managed to see about 2/3rds of the exhibits by 1pm. Pia told me about all the places she wanted to have her photo taken:
At 1pm it was time to hit the main attraction. On prior visits we had discovered the fountain area where one could cool down on a hot summer day. This time we were smart and brought a change of clothes so that Pia could get soaking wet without having to be cold afterwards.
And did she get wet. She spent close to an hour running around there with the other kids and using the play structure next to the fountain. I believe that she only agreed to go to the zoo with me, because she knew about the fountain. And those are some of my favorite photos of her for this year.

Love the photo of Pia and the seal! She obviously has your white man’s nose, eh? I’m jealous.
