Even the president uses Adobe Acrobat Connect

<ShamelessPlug>

We just got approval from the Dept. of State to write about the Obama administration making use of Adobe Acrobat Connect solutions. Both, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as well as the president himself have used Acrobat Connect Pro to broadcast live events to audiences all over the world. Obama most recently during town hall meetings in Turkey:

Video conferences were still esoteric when I started to use them: a special room, a special camera and a special data connection – everything was special about them. Connect Pro as well as the free Connect Now have made things a lot easier. All you need is the Flash Player and a moderately fast Internet connection. Add a $50 web camera and you’re set. There’s not a single day where I don’t have at least one Connect-session with my colleagues in San Jose or San Francisco. The last time I traveled back to CA was a long time ago. Adobe has saved quite a bundle by shifting more and more meetings online, instead of having to fly people all over the US.

    … and despite that it is easy, video conferencing will not replace personal meetings! – In many cultures people expect you to meet them personally when it comes to negotiating and curcial contract discussions. That may change in 30 years time but I doubt it. For sure for daily business and chats among collueges that is pretty efficiant. However I prefer the conference calls; if it is boring you can at least do something else while on the phone….
