Comments on: Isn’t the ZIP code enough?

I like the thought of simplifying the address process, but, as has been said before, people make mistakes, especially mail carriers.
I regularly get mail meant for another couple in this subdivision with the same street number. My point being – the more info, the more likely you’ll actually get your mail, maybe.:-)

That makes sense, David – thanks. However, even with both items present (zip code and city), the US postal service still manages to mis-deliver my mail on a regular basis

I’m pretty sure that the redundancy is a feature, since many people make mistakes writing addresses, and having the repeated information allows letters to be delivered which otherwise might not be.

What amazes me is how few people use the Zip+4 address. Adding those four digits is the single most important thing you can do to speed along the mail.
