UpVise – synchronized desktop/mobile information
Since I got my Motorola Droid, I’ve been using the OI Shopping List to keep track of all things I needed to get from grocery store and other places. The application was simple and did exactly what it was supposed to do: replace the paper shopping list.
There was one thing that always bugged me about it, because I had to enter and check off all information on the mobile device itself. Too often did I think of something to purchase while sitting in front of the computer and by the time I had the Droid back in my hands, I had forgotten about the item.
I finally found a lean, no frills tool that addresses this shortcoming.

UpVise comes with a web application as well as mobile clients for a lot of different platforms. All my information (shopping lists) lives on their servers and both the web applications as well as the mobile applications tap into the same information. Adding an item to a list while sitting at my desk will show the same item when I launch the mobile application the next time. Everything is synchronized now and there less of a chance that I miss something during the next visit to the grocery store – well that is, if I remember to bring the Droid ![]()

Wow, they know, what you buy, and can sell this info

Maybe you can just install a local wiki on https and update it from desktop and phone?

“Butter, Milk, Eggs, Flour, Watermelon” it currently says on my shopping list. While I’m usually very cautious where I’m putting my information, in this case I’m not too worried about it, but thanks for the pointer.
Editing a wiki on the Droid is possible, but not while you are at the grocery store. Would take way too much time. I could create a custom application for it, but, again, in that case I feel ok trusting a a third party.
